Overview
Event Dates & Calendar for WooCommerce lets you assign event-style dates to WooCommerce products and display them in a fast, filterable calendar. It’s ideal for ticketed events (including WooCommerce Box Office), but also works for classes, tours, rentals, services, seasonal drops, and any product that needs a date on a calendar.
Customers can browse month-by-month without slow page loads, filter by event type (product category) and venue, and click through to product pages or add items to cart (depending on how your store is set up).
How it works
- Create venues (optional) in WooCommerce settings.
- Add Event Start / Event End (and optional time + venue) to products.
- Insert the calendar into any page using the included Block Editor block or shortcode.
- Customers browse by month and filter by venue and/or event type.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this require WooCommerce Box Office?
No. It works with standard WooCommerce products. Box Office users often get immediate value from the ticket-style workflow, but the plugin is not limited to tickets.
What kinds of products can appear in the calendar?
Any product where you set an Event Start date (and optionally Event End). You can restrict what appears using category settings and shortcode/block options.
How do venues work?
Venues are managed in WooCommerce → Settings → Event Calendar → Venues.
Once venues exist, you can select one per product from a dropdown. On the front end, the calendar can be:
- Venue-locked (if you set a venue in the block/shortcode), or
- Venue-filterable (if no venue is set in the block/shortcode)
Why don’t I see the Venue filter dropdown on the calendar?
The venue filter only appears when:
- you have at least one venue created, and
- the calendar is not locked to a venue via the block/shortcode.
Why don’t I see the Event Type filter dropdown?
The Event Type filter is based on product categories and is only shown when the calendar is not category-locked by the block/shortcode.
My calendar is empty — what should I check first?
- Make sure products have Event Start (and optionally Event End) set.
- Check whether the calendar is restricted by categories (settings or shortcode).
- Run Maintenance → Rebuild/Backfill index after imports, migrations, or bulk edits.
- Confirm “lookback” settings aren’t excluding older products (if your build includes lookback filtering).
Will the calendar be slow on larger stores?
Month views are optimized using an indexed table. Performance will still depend on hosting and overall site load, but the plugin is designed specifically to avoid expensive meta queries for calendar browsing.
What does the Maintenance “Backfill/Rebuild index” do?
It rebuilds the indexed events table from product event data. Use it after:
- importing products,
- restoring a backup,
- migrating environments,
- or making large batches of event date edits.
Does the calendar update the browser URL?
Yes — the current month and any unlocked filters can be synced to URL parameters so customers can share the same view and use browser Back/Forward navigation.
Does the plugin remove data when I uninstall it?
Only if you enable the Remove data on uninstall option (shown with a warning). If disabled, uninstalling the plugin removes plugin files but leaves data intact.
Is there a Block Editor (Gutenberg) block?
Yes. The plugin includes a dedicated block for inserting the calendar into any page/post, with inspector controls for common options.
How does licensing work?
Licensed builds include a Licensing tab under WooCommerce → Settings → Event Calendar. Until a valid license is activated, the calendar output may show a license notice instead of rendering.
